My 17 year old OTTB gelding suffers from severe arthritis, DJD, bone changes in his stifle. Most people say a supplement in the feed is a waste of money.
What makes your assimilation better than that of Cosequin/Acti-flex and the other 1000s on the market.
What levels of Chondroitin and Glucosamine does the OCD pellets contain? My current supplement contains 8,000 of glucosamine and 4,000 of Chondroitin Sulfate. Why only 50mg of HA, when most products offer 100 to 125?
I am curious what makes it better than the current supplement I am on…
Thanks!

Candice,
Very good questions. You should always be informed before you spend your hard earned money. I will begin with some reasons the OCD Pellets have been so effective and respected in this very competitive market. The OCD Pellets do contain HA’s and Chondroitin Sulfates but mainly contain these compounds as “isolates” or micro isolates . What this really means is these isolates are the building blocks of the HA’s and Chondroitin Sulfates . We supply the body with these for two reasons; first these isolates are very small molecules ,allowing them to be more easily assimilated into the body. This Is critical to the effectiveness of any product. Afterall, if we are unable to assimilate the nutrients into the body they will simply be excreted which is of no use to your horse.
The second most important fact why OCD Pellets are so effective : Because the isolates (building blocks ) are supplied in amounts that permit the body to choose what it requires today to repair itself. The body may require HA’s today but Chondroitin Sulfates tomorrow so these isolates are supplied daily in the Pellets. I feel and believe the body is much more intelligent than we and is certainly a better nutritionist.
So although you see lower numbers with respect to HA’s and Chondroitin Sulfates listed , these numbers do not include the numbers of building blocks contained within the Pellets.
I do hope this reponse helps. I am here to help and if you should like to speak to me with further questions please feel free to do so. I am not able to always respond immediately but will certainly return your call if in fact I am unable to respond. If you call the OCD office they will give you my cell number.
Have a great day !!!
